Mary C. Willis, 80, of Fletcher, passed away at 9:54 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, in Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit, Troy. Born on Sept. 4, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., Mary was a daughter of the late Charles Richard and Bertha (Keller) Jelleff. She married Charles D. Willis on Jan. 11, 1964, and he survives.
Although born a "city" girl, she adapted to a life in the country because she loved her husband unconditionally. Theirs was a storybook romance that lasted 51 years. Together, they raised five children: Richard Bradley Tucker of Piqua, Cindy Hutson of Troy, Elizabeth Tucker-Lince of New Carlisle, Charles (Tracey) Willis and Eric (Heather) Willis, both of Magnolia, Texas.
She was a loving grandmother to 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Patricia (James) Trost of Valparaiso, Ind., and one brother, William Jelleff of Largo, Fla.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Michael and Meghan North, and a sister, Harriet Garman.
Mary graduated from Griffith High School in Griffith, Ind., and attended cosmetology school. She was a Christian woman who enjoyed spending time with her family, and she and her husband set a wonderful example for their children. Mary had a love for animals, especially cats. She also enjoyed playing pool and was quite good in her younger days.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Steve Spoon of the Piqua Church of the Nazarene presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
