Richard D. Vore, 58, of Troy, passed away Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Vitas Innovative Hospice in Dayton. He was born June 25, 1952, in Troy, to Francis "Bud" and Mabel (Barnes) Vore of Troy.

In addition to his parents, Richard is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Gary Schwanitz of Troy; three nephews, Christopher Skidmore (Stephanie) of Dallas, Texas, Zachary Skidmore (Amanda) of Ft. Worth, Texas and Eric Skidmore and fiancée, Megan Donoghue of Columbus; four great-nieces, Alexis, Kalyn, Carolyn, and Brianna Skidmore; and one great-nephew, Charles Skidmore.

Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, Vernon and Laurabelle Vore and Walter Barnes and Verda Barnes Frantz.

He was a 1970 graduate of Troy High School and was an exchange student. He was a 1975 graduate of Ohio University and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He was an avid traveler throughout.

Richard was employed as an executive platinum desk supervisor of American Airlines in Dallas, Texas. He was formerly employed as a history teacher at Newton School in Pleasant Hill from 1975-1981. Richard was also a counselor for CISV in Troy for two years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Troy.

There will be a funeral service held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fisher-Cheney Funeral Home, Troy with Pastor Doug Magin officiating. The visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Fletcher Cemetery.
