Dorothea (Hunt) Ford, 93, formerly of Fletcher, passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, in her residence at Sayler Park, Cincinnati.
She was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Miami County, the daughter of the late Charles Hunt and Laura M. (Carpenter) Hunt. She married Robert L. Apple on Nov. 30, 1933, and he died on June 13, 1938. She later married Kenneth Ford on Dec. 24, 1944, and he died on Dec. 13, 1989.
She is survived by her daughter from her first marriage, Janet Apple Koch of Cincinnati; two grandsons, Kenneth Koch of Cincinnati and Bradley Koch of Zephyerhills, Fla.; and one great-grandson, Richard Meyers of Cincinnati.
In addition to her parents and two husbands, she was preceded in death by her one sister, Loa Jean Hill of Piqua; two brothers, Norman Hunt of Lockington and Marion Hunt of Casstown; one sister-in-law Mabel Hunt of Casstown; and a son-in-law, Paul Koch.
Dorthea attended a one-room school west of Lockington and Houston High School. She was a member of the Lockington United Methodist Church. Dorthea worked at Lear Avia in Piqua in the early 1940s.
She served as a pianist for the Subordinate Grange and the Pomona Grange for more than 10 years and was a member of the Fletcher Grange for more than 55 years. She enjoyed the Troy Senior Citizens group.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with the Rev. Bonita Wood presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
