Helen M. (Reiber) Shroyer, 71, of Piqua, died at 1:55 a.m. Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 5, 1935, in Piqua, to the late Joseph and Opal (Jacobs) Reiber. She married Dick L. Shroyer on Jan. 17, 1959, in Troy. He preceded her in death on March 16, 2001.
Helen is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Dick Kelnhofer of Columbus and Susan and Joseph Simmons of Piqua; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Bonnie Shroyer of Piqua; one half brother, Ivan Reiber of Sidney; three half sisters, Mary Pummill, Josephine Belcher and Donna Kuykendall, all of Piqua; two stepbrothers, Robert Curl of Fairborn and Jim Curl of Sidney; one aunt, Betty Reiber of Troy; and four grandchildren, Brandon Simmons of Piqua, Kristy Kelnhofer of Columbus and Eric and Michelle Shroyer of Piqua. She was preceded in death by one son, Steven Shroyer; one stepbrother, Bill Curl; and her stepmother, Rachel Reiber.
Helen graduated from Piqua Central High School in 1953. She worked at the Chefs Panty in Piqua as a bookkeeper for many years. She also worked for Peter's Printing, Troy, for several years and she baked cakes for Balloon City in Piqua for several years.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Fletcher Cemetery, Fletcher.
