Lannie F. King, age 59, of Fletcher passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2014 in Florida Hospital, Tampa. Born on October 4, 1955 in Mt. Sterling, KY. Lannie was a son of the late Earl F. and Hester Mae (Harris) Thomas King. He married Rebecca J. Rittenhouse on June 22, 1996 and she survives in Fletcher. Lannie is also survived by a step-son, Nathan Z. Wackler of Lima, OH; his brothers and sisters and their spouses: Donnie and Cindy King, Fletcher, OH; Linda and Cecil Swafford, Wellston, OH; Danny and Jessie King, Springfield, OH; Rick and Brenda King, DeGraff, OH; and Joyce Hill of Florida; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by step daughters Natalie and Valerie Wackler, his sisters, Jeannie Garland, Nancy Wood, Cena Jlopser, Lou Wanda Mahan, a nephew Kenny Mahan, Jr.; best friend Kenny Mahan Sr, and half brothers, Robert Thomas and Clarence Thomas, Jr. Lannie was a member of the Tipp City First Baptist Church. He attended Graham High School. He received his GED in 2006 after attending the Able Program. He helped with other students to achieve their goals to continue through the course to pass and receive their GED. Lannie started at a very young age working for local farmers. He worked at Shepard Grain Elevator in Fletcher with his father and brothers for many years. He went on to work several positions in the maintenance field including Riverside of Miami County. He settled at Miami Valley Hospital in environmental/facility where he retired after a lengthy illness. Lannie loved Christmas and will be remembered for the thousands of lights he put out each year for the children. He was a natural Santa Claus and had an avid following. He donated his time and toys to any child who needed it. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, OH with Pastor Gary Boggs of the Tipp City First Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
