Betty J. Huffman, 88, of Lebanon, Ohio, and formerly of Piqua, Ohio, passed away at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, in the Otterbein-Lebanon Senior Life Style Community. Born on April 12, 1927, in Sidney, Ohio, Betty was a daughter of the late Charles and Erma Louise (Moore) Snider.
She married Gerald W. Huffman on Jan. 26, 1946, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 12, 1997. Together they raised a son, Jerry, who also preceded her in death on June 15, 2015.
Betty is survived by a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Huffman, of Lebanon; two granddaughters, Julie (Brad) Atkins, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and Holly (Jay) Ludwick, of Lebanon; and five great-granddaughters, Hannah, Cora, Kennedy, Lily and Mandy. She is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Leist, of Houston, Ohio, and Marybelle Shafer, of Findlay, Ohio; two brothers, Charles "Bud" (Ruth) Snider, of Tipp City, Ohio, and Jim (Arlene) Snider, of Piqua, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, husband, and son, Betty was also preceded in death by a brother Nelson Snider, a sister, Pat Woodrome, and an infant brother.
Phyllis was a 1945 graduate of Bradford High School and attended Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua. She was a member of the Springcreek Township Community Club and Chapter 320, Order of Eastern Star, Piqua. Betty enjoyed planting gardens, both flower and vegetable as well as sewing and doing crafts.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, Ohio, with the Rev. Jim Ludwick presidng. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
