Karen R. Cowan, age 62, of Houston, passed away on October 8, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Green Hills Community Center of West Liberty, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family.

Karen was born January 14, 1952 in Lake City, Iowa to the late Loyd and Loraine (Rodewald ) Ashbrook.

She married William Cowan on December 25, 1970 and he survives in Houston.

Karen is survived by sons, William Shaun Cowan and his wife Victoria, of Bellefontaine, Michael Cowan and wife, Sara, of Piqua, daughter, Dana Thompson and her husband Herb, of Catawba, Ohio, sisters;Jolene and husband Bill Shortridge of Sidney, Sherri and husband Allan Hutton of Toledo, brother, Alan and wife Ellen Ashbrook of Ft. Loramie, mother-in-law, Velura Cowan of Piqua.

She was preceded in death by son, Brian Cowan, and brother, Merlyn Ashbrook.

Karen was a homemaker and treasurer of the Boy Scouts Troop # 239 of Houston. She loved cooking, sewing and time she spent with her loving family. She traveled extensively throughout the country with her husband, William who had a career in the U S Air Force.

Funeral services for Karen will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2014, at the Adams Funeral Home, 1401 Fair Road, Sidney, with Pastor James Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery, Houston.
