BOOKER, Rev Leland Eugene Saline, MI, Age 79, died April 18, 2006 Saline, MI. He was born Oct. 11, 1926 in Darke County, Ohio, the son of John H. and S. Almeda (Besecker) Booker. Pastor Booker graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1950; served 4 years in the US Army; attended Defiance College, graduated from Univ. of Maine; and Bangor Theological Seminary in 1965, and was ordained in October 1965 in Phillipsburg, OH. He served as pastor in Galesburg, Flat Rock, Wyoming, Crystal, Chelsea and Flat Rock, MI retiring in February of 1995. He was then interim pastor at Covenant Church in Chelsea. On May 12, 1956, he married Bertha Harrod in Oran, Ohio. Survivors include his wife, his daughters Belinda Marie Booker of Oxford, MI and Louise Ellen Booker (Michael) St. John of Lake, MI; 4 adoring grandsons, Corey, Ryan, Evan & Ethan St. John; one brother Steven (Patti) and one sister Anna (David) Warnick both of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jay. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 29, 1:30 pm at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, with Rev. Ron Cook officiating. A private burial will be held in Houston Cemetery, Houston, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Brecon Village - designated for Leland, St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, or Michigan Conference of United Church of Christ.
