Booker, Bertha Mae Saline, Michigan Age 84, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Arbor Hospice Residence in Ann Arbor. She was born June 10, 1932 in Fort Loramie, Ohio, the daughter of Kora G. and Lula (Baucher) Harrod. Mrs. Booker graduated from Ft. Loramie High School, Defiance College, and Eastern Michigan University. She taught elementary school 25 years in Ohio, Maine, and Michigan. Since 1977, she was involved in women's work of the United Church of Christ, and honored as Woman of the Year in 1987. She belonged to Washtenaw Area Retired School Personal and served with her husband, Rev. Booker, in many churches. Bertha was very active with the Evangelical Homes Boards. On May 12, 1956, she married Leland Eugene Booker in Oran, Ohio, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 2006. Survivors include her daughters Belinda Marie Booker of Saline and Louise Ellen St. John of Alma; and one sister, Luella Roeth of Sidney, OH. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Harold Harrod. A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 11:00 am at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline, with Revs. Pam and Keith Koebel officiating. A private burial will be in the Houston Cemetery in Houston, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Saline or Michigan Conference of United Church of Christ.
