RUSSIA — Eleanor M. Ayers, 92, of Russia, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, at 5:40 a.m., in the Upper Valley Medical Center in Troy.

She was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Dayton, the daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Stang) Huewer.

On Sept. 25, 1945, Eleanor married Richard Ayers, who preceded her in death, March 12, 1998. She is survived by one son, Arthur (Donna Weaver) Ayers, of Houston; one daughter, Anita Lupfer, of Beavercreek; three grandchildren, Suzette Vastano, of Russia, Richard Lupfer, of North Bend, Washington, and Amy Ayers, of Russia; and six great-grandchildren, Gunner Young, Lindsey Vastano, Logan and Shelby Ayers, and Audrey and Bryce Lupfer. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Ayers; a daughter-in-law, Becky Ayers; a son-in-law, Larry Lupfer; two sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Ayers was a 1942 graduate of Houston High School and attained her nursing degree from the Good Samaritan School of Nursing. She was a co-owner of Ayers Pastry Shops in Covington and Piqua and retired from Piqua Memorial Hospital as a registered nurse. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Covington.

In keeping with Mrs. Ayers wishes, her body will be cremated. A private graveside committal will take place at Houston Cemetery at a later date
