Evelyn Jeannette Long, 79, of 1156 Van Way, Piqua, died at 9:32 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2009, at the Upper Valley Medical Center. She was born May 14, 1930, in Shelby County to the late Robert and Virginia (Curl) Donson.
Survivors include five sons, Charles Mowery and his friend Bev McDade, Gary (Darlene) Mowery, Rick Mowery, Michael (Heidi) Pierce all of Piqua, and Tim (Pam) Mowery of Houston; three daughters, Pam Alderton and her friend Ed Baker, Sandy (Ron) Kindell and Cindy Studebaker all of Piqua; 18 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; a bother, Ronald Donson of Houston; and two sisters, Helen Thobe of Russia and Dorothy (Bill) Grillot of Alpena, Mich. She was preceded in death by a husband, Howard Pierce; a son, Terry Mowery; a daughter, Deborah Mowery; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Long was a graduate of Houston High School and retired from the former Miami Industries of Piqua. She was a member of the Houston Congregational Christian Church, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge 614, and the AMVETS Post 66.

A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. James Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at Houston Cemetery.
