Sarah Ann Hensler, born June 27, 1869, Jackson County, daughter of John and Phoebe McManaway Hensler, the youngest of 8 children.

Sarah Ann, 17, married Clement L. Radcliff, 24, telegraph operator, born March 3, 1863, Radcliff, son of John and Lucinda McKinsey Radcliff, on June 15, 1887, Vinton County.

Clement and Sarah were parents of 5 children:

Katie, born July 18, 1888, Radcliff

Earl Benton, born Dec. 2, 1890, Radcliff

Clyde Edward, born Dec. 7, 1892, Radcliff

Delbert Andrew, born March 4, 1895, Radcliff

William Jennings Bryan, born Aug. 12, 1897, Radcliff

Katie Radcliff died Oct. 9, 1904, 16Y 2M 13D, single, Vinton County Deaths, Volume 3, Page 2

There is NO stone to be found for Katie.

Son Earl Benton married Marie Pearce, parents of two sons, Marie & Earl are buried at Radcliff

Son Clyde Edward married Edna Mae Vale, Clyde and Edna are buried at Radcliff

Delbert Andrew married Rose Cooper, parents of 3 surviving children; Rose and Delbert are buried at Radcliff.

Son William Jennings Bryan Radcliff, telegrapher for the C&O Railroad, youngest of the 5 children, died Sept 12, 1953, at home, 56Y 1M 3D, single; cause of death: accidental, tractor overturned on him, causing multiple injuries, Joseph E. Strong, Coroner; his brother, Earl, was the informant; DC #63595

Sarah Ann was left to raise her four sons, as Clement L. Radcliff had moved to California and remarried before 1910.

Sarah Ann Radcliff died March 12, 1959, at her home near Radcliff, 89Y 8M 15D, the last of her birth family to survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, 7 brothers and sisters, her daughter, Katie, and two of her sons, Clyde and Bryan; she was survived by two sons, Earl and Delbert, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Her funeral was held at the Radcliff Christian Church. In her obituary she was called "one of the pioneer Radcliff residents."
