Tombstone: Edward O. Limes - August 23, 1889 - May 18, 1917

AKA JOHN EDMOND LIMES:

John Edmond Limes' obituary ran in the May 25, 1917 issue of the Pickaway County News. It is mentioned that he was the sixth son and seventh child of Charles and Jennette Limes (nee Gunnett). His mother and four brothers having prceeded him in death. He was a great lover of horses. He fell from a horse in 1915 and was injured internally from which he never recovered. He was married to Mary Miller of Circleville on October 19,1914. No children were mentioned for them.

A Card of Thanks appears below his obituary that is signed by: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Limes, Mrs. Della Sandy and Wesley Limes. (the Mrs. Charles Limes would have been Charles' third and final wife of Josie Wymer.)


Edward O. Limes' newspaper obituary shows his name as John Edmond Limes, however, the tombstone is inscribed Edward O. Both show the same date of birth and the same date of death. His Reber Hill Cemetery written record shows his name as John E. Limes.

Edward O. Limes died at the age of 27 years, 8 months and 25 days per his obituary. He was the sixth son and seventh child of Charles and Jeannette Gunnett Limes. His mother and four brothers preceeded him in death.

He was a great lover of horses which lead indirectly to his early death. He was thrown from a horse in the Fall of 1915, suffering internal injuries from which he never recovered fully and resulted in "dropsy of the heart", which caused his death, per his obituary.

He was married to Mary Miller of Circleville, Pickaway County, Ohio on October 19, 1914.

Card of Thanks published in the Pickaway County News:

"We wish to take this means to extend our sincere thanks to our many kind friends and neighbors who gave us so much assistance during the recent illness and death of our beloved son and brother, Edmond Limes. Especially, do we wish to thank the members of the Brotherhood of the United Brethern Church, also the choir for the beautiful hymns rendered, also to Rev. P. E. Wright for his consoling words, also to the neighbors who so kindly furnished their automobiles and to Mr. Schelegel for efficient services rendered."
