Sophie K. Haddix, 86 of Urbana, passed away, Sunday, May 29, 2016 in her home.
She was born Dec. 19, 1929, in Darmstadt, Germany. Sophie enjoyed sewing, knitting and working in her flower garden. She loved family get-togethers and spending time with her friends.
As our hearts ache for the physical loss of her, we find solace knowing that she is now with God. She is at peace. And for that, we are grateful.
She is survived by her daughters, Katy (Anthony) Cupps, Christel (Harold) Dingus and a special friend, Wally Chamberlin; her grandchildren, Joey Brown, Jeremy (Marie) Brown, Anthony Brown, Jamie Brown, Tammy Cupps-Shaw, Janie (Sterling) Douglas, Charles (Jessica) Cupps , Eric (Liz) Dingus and Scott (Sarah) Dingus; her great-grandchildren, Samarah, Nathan, Jessica, Aaron, Arial, Alexis, Addison, Hunter, Haylee, Jacob, Jordan, Brianna, Haley, Amber, Timothy and Ashton; her sisters, Annie Schmitt, Gertrude Haller and Üschi; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rudolf and Anna Sturm; her husband, Charles H. "Cork" Haddix; her daughter, Mary Ann Stewart and her brother, Philp Sturm.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the VERNON FUNERAL HOME, Urbana, Ohio.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, 2016, in the funeral home with Pastor Tom Bolinger officiating.
Burial will follow in Terre Haute Cemetery in Terre Haute, Ohio.
