Elmo Deland Spring, age 88, of Galloway, Thursday, January 25, 2001 at Doctors West Hospital. Born March 9, 1912. Preceded in death by brother Chester, parents Alfred and Sylvia Spring, infant son Chester and nephew Richard Spring. Mr. Spring raised Holstein dairy cattle and farmed his entire life. He was a 1930 graduate of Hilliard High School and was the 1st in Ohio to be awarded the State and National Farmer Award from the Future Farmer Association. He was a member of an award winning FFA National Dairy Judging Team. Member of Hilliard United Methodist Church, West Jefferson Masonic Lodge 221, Alton Grange and one of the original organizing members of the Prairie Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. Former member of Prairie Twp. School Board and former Prairie Twp. Trustee. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Geneva (Ramey) Spring; son, Charles A. (Suellen) Spring of Dimmit, Tex.; daughter-in-law, Alice Spring of Hilliard; grandsons, Gary (Terri) Spring of Powell and Dale (Jeanetta) Spring of Galloway; great-grandson, Zachary Spring; great-granddaughter, Kylie Spring; step-granddaughter, Kim Spring; step-great-grandson, Salvatore Cara Donna. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth (Idamae) Spring of London; nieces, Bonnie Anderson and LuAnn (Jack) Dillon; many cousins, relatives and a host of friends. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday. Rev. Jim Riggs officiating. Interment Alton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ohio Diabetes Association. Masonic service Sunday evening at the funeral home.
