Maria was born Jan 24, 1840 in Eichstetten, Baden, Germany, and died Nov 14, 1913 in Grove City, Franklin, Ohio. D/O Ansel Matthias Walz (B:1811-Baden, Germany), and Anna Katherine Kaiser (B:1818-Germany).
On Jul 16, 1861 she married Reinhard Brandenberger, In Eichstetten, Baden, Germany. Their children included: Reinhard, August, Maria, Karl, Amalie, William, Gustav, Emma, Albert, Selma, and Luis.
On Feb 27, 1893 Maria arrived with her family in New York, New York on the ship "La Gascogne" which departed from Le Havre, France. Since they immigrated late in life (She 53, & her husband 61), only a few of their children came with them. A few others immigrated later to other parts of the country, while the rest stayed in Germany. The urge for freedom and a better life must have been strong; because sadly, they never saw some of their children again.
