Grace E. Baker, age 84, of St. Paris passed away at 12:13 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, in her residence.
Born on January 3, 1930 in Bonavista, Newfoundland, Canada, Grace was a daughter of the late Frederick and Maggie (Whiffen) Harris. She married her husband of 52 years, Marvin C. Baker on July 22, 1961, and together they raised three children: Suzanne (Roy) Creamer of Urbana; Dale Baker of Saint Paris; and Todd (Lisa) Baker of Anna. She was a loving grandmother to seven grandchildren: Amanda (Ben) Hoskinson of Urbana; Nicholas and Christopher Creamer of Urbana; Brandon and Carmen Baker of Anna; Lorne (Amy) Buskirk of Troy; Vikki (Mike) Taylor of Dayton; and 10 great grandchildren. Grace is also survived by a two sisters-in-law, Delores Jenkins of St. Paris, Gladys Harris of Catalina, Newfoundland, Canada, and a brother-in-law, Donald Baker of Medina.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Thompson; two brothers, Frank and Wilson Harris; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Baker; brother-in-law Richard Jenkins; and sister-in-law Betty Baker.
Grace was a 1947 graduate of Bonavista Newfoundland High School. She was a member of the Grafton United Methodist Church and worked for many years for Parker Sweeper in Springfield.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. in the Grafton United Methodist Church, 2968 Dialton Road, St. Paris, with Reverend Mark Atterholt presiding. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, North Heck Hill Road, St. Paris.
