Ernest D. "Ernie" Wiltheiss, 87, of Troy, passed away at 4:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, in Piqua Manor Nursing Home.
He was born April 23, 1920, in Troy, the son of the late Ernest C. and Edyth M. (Knoop) Wiltheiss. He married his wife of 66 years, Veda Elifritz, on June 28, 1941, and she survives.
Together they raised four children who survive, Darlene (Roger) Friend of Troy, Nancy Radabaugh of Wabash, Ind., Thomas (Diana) Wiltheiss of Fletcher and Margie (William) Smith of Piqua. Ernie was a loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He also is survived by five sisters, Lois Boehringer of Piqua, Nellie Thornton of Erie, Pa., Janet Maxson of Conover, Peggy Drennan, of Cadiz, Ky. and Carla VanHoogen, of Boise, Idaho; two brothers, Robert Wiltheiss of Piqua and Jack Wiltheiss of Valley City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons-in law, Jerry Radabaugh and Jack Caldwell; two brothers, Donald and Gene Richard Wiltheiss; and four sisters, Betty Carity, Mildred Weatherhead, Doris Elifritz and Carol Woods. Ernie was a member of the Union Baptist Church of Troy and a lifelong farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Union Baptist Church, 1833 E. Peterson Road, Troy, with the Rev. Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
Veda L. Wiltheiss, 86, of Troy, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008, in Sterling House of Piqua.
Veda was born Jan. 19, 1922, in Miami County, a daughter of Samuel A. and Demi (Hole) Elifritz. She married Ernest D. Wiltheiss on June 28, 1941, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2007.
Veda is survived by four children, Darlene (Roger) Friend of Troy, Tom (Diana) Wiltheiss of Fletcher, Nancy Radabaugh of Walbash, Ind., and Margie (William) Smith of Piqua; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Veda was preceded by three brothers, James, Merlin and Ralph Elifritz; six sisters, Iva Saunders, Laura Asher, Alma Ely, Dorothy Mason, Edna Elifritz, and Bernice Vore; and two sons-in-law, Jack Caldwell and Jerry Radabaugh.
Veda was a 1940 graduate of Staunton High School. She helped her husband Ernie on the farm; she was a good mother and homemaker. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Union Baptist Church, 1833 E. Peterson Road, Troy, with the Rev. Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
