— Wanda Schmidt, 86, of Piqua, passed away at 9:41 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, in Piqua. Born on July 7, 1927 in Fletcher, Wanda was a daughter of the late Charles and Anna (Rayburn) Shadoan. She married Virgil K. Schmidt on April 8, 1950 and he preceded her in death on November 19, 2001. Together they raised five children: Durenda (Richard) Chappie of Conover; Donna (James) Studebaker of Troy; Diana (David) Schaffer of Fletcher; Denise (John) Bruce of Piqua; and Dora (Ed) Rodriguez of Rio Rancho, NM. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Amber Schaffer and fiance' Josh Stapleton of Piqua; Ashley (Jason) Lamb of Piqua; Danele (Matt) Johnson of Covington; David (Vicki) Coppock, Jr. of Piqua; Jacob Rodriguez of Denver, CO and Jesse Rodriguez of Rio Rancho, NM; six great grandchildren: Jamie, Payton and Elijah Stapleton, Tylan and Devin Coppock, and Tyara Johnson; two step grandchildren: Matthew and Michaela Bruce; a brother, Paul (Theresa) Shadoan of TN; and two sisters: Esther Birt of Piqua and Wilma (Bill) Lentz of Orlando, FL. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather Walker, one great grandson, Naithin Johnson; three sisters; Margaret Davis, Dorothy Popp, Alma Shaw and a brother; Chester Shadoan. Wanda was a 1946 graduate of Brown Local High School and attended the Troy Baptist Temple. She was formerly employed by Superior Company, Atlas Underwear, Burger Chef, The Spot, and the east end McDonalds. She was a member of the Staunton Grange, the Wednesday Joy Club at the Salvation Army, and attended the YMCA in Piqua. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street, Fletcher, OH with Pastor David Mulvaine of the Troy Baptist Temple presiding. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
