Township Trustee John Barger Dies;Served since 1926
John Robert Barger, 62 of St. Paris route two brother of Champaign County's Auditor, Carey Barger died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday in Piqua Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient four days. He had been ill two weeks.
Barger, a farmer, had been a Johnson township trustee continuously since 1926.
He was born Jan. 31, 1900, on a farm north of St. Paris where he resided all of his life. He was the on of Robert M and Mary Ellen Comer Barger. On Jan. 31, 1921, he married Vera Niece, who survives.
Survivors in addition to his brother, Carey and his widow are a son Elston, of St. Paris route two, a sister, Mrs. Ed Yinger of Millerstown, one other brother, George, St. Paris, two grandsons and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Baker Funeral Home St. Paris, with the Rev. Robert Kubn, pastor of the Myrtle Tee and Mt. Pleasant Baptist Churches, officiating.
Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery near Millerstown.
