George was a son of Judge David Mitchell and Martha 'Mattie' Black who migrated with the family in 1799 as a ten year old. About 1814, George married Margaret Boal. They had three children: David 'Little Davy', James B. F., and Martha Eliza B. Mitchell. George died of pneumonia as a young man.
